About
Four generations of passionate winegrowers in Perroy, in the Vaud Côte
For more than a century, the Martin family has cultivated vines in Perroy, in the heart of Vaud’s La Côte region, between Lake Geneva and the Jura. This family estate, now known as Cave du Consul, is part of a winegrowing history passed down from generation to generation, with the same attachment to the land, to work well done and to the identity of the place.
The story begins with Ernest and Lucie Martin, who ran an estate in Perroy that was both winegrowing and agricultural. At the time, the vines were worked by hand, using traditional methods, before the plantings were gradually modernised to accompany the evolution of the profession. After Ernest, Pierre and Robert took over the estate, then Robert developed bottling from 1947 onwards. In 1956, the estate took the name Cave du Consul.
The next generation marked a new stage with Michel Martin, trained in viticulture and oenology, who took over the estate in 1970, modernised the crops, expanded the operation and, in 1977, built a cellar equipped with a bottling line. In 2005, he handed the estate over to his two sons, Laurent and Nicolas Martin, both trained at the École de Changins, the Swiss reference in vine and wine professions.
Today, Laurent and Nicolas carry on this family heritage with an approach that is both faithful to tradition and focused on current quality requirements. The construction of a new cellar in 2010, dedicated to vinification and conditioning, reflects this desire to control every stage, from vine to bottle.
At Cave du Consul, each wine tells part of this story: that of a Vaud terroir, of know-how passed down over four generations and of an estate deeply rooted in Perroy. Visitors can also discover this world on site, at Grand’Rue 39, during tastings, cellar visits or group welcomes, in a simple, authentic and convivial spirit.

Our Terroir
Perroy is located in the heart of La Côte, the largest winegrowing region in the canton of Vaud.
Our vines extend over south-facing slopes, benefiting from optimal sunshine and an exceptional view over Lake Geneva and the Alps.
The soil, composed of glacial moraines and molasse, gives our wines their unique character and distinctive minerality.

An exceptional terroir
Vaud’s La Côte enjoys an ideal microclimate for viticulture. Lake Geneva regulates the temperatures while the Alps protect against the cold winds from the north. This unique combination allows our grapes to ripen slowly, developing complex aromas and balanced acidity that form the signature of our Vaud white wines and Vaud red wines.

Why are you called Le Consul?
Since when has the estate produced Vaud wines in Perroy?
The family wine estate has existed for nearly 120 years. It was in 1910 that our great-grandfather planted his first Chasselas vines in Perroy. Today, we are the 4th generation to produce award-winning Vaud wines.
